Chief Rock Engineer

Our client, an International Mining House, has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Rock Engineer to join their dynamic organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for the planning of mine layouts and stopping sequences, control of the incidence of rock bursts, design and implementation of all support standards.
• Ensure long-term stability over stoping of haulages, crosscuts, and inclined shafts, shaft pillar design and extraction plans, support for main excavations, pump chambers, water dams, settlers, hoist chambers.
• Organization of introductory rock mechanics courses for mine production officials; identify Rock Engineering and Strata Control best practices.
• Discover and implement support and design projects to improve return on investment, Risk, Health and Environmental procedures, codes of practice.
