**CLINICAL DIETITIAN**

**Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**

Performs as a member of the interdisciplinary team responsible for the design, coordination and implementation of optimal nutritional care and education of patients/clients in accordance with established standards of care.

**Essential Job Functions**

Utilizes Nutrition Care Process as recommended by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and in accordance with Mercy Health’s Standards of Care guidelines for Screening and Assessment. Adheres to practice standards established by local, state and national agencies.

Develops curriculum for nutrition classes and teaches group classes as required by the clinical area of care. Provides nutrition counseling and/or education to patients and/or caregivers based on assessment of individual learning needs.
