Position Overview

K-8 Itinerant Native Languages Teacher, Indigenous Education – a 1-year, 10-month term position (0.5 FTE) located at the Urban Indigenous Education Centre.

Overall Purpose

The Native Language Program aims to improve educational outcomes for Indigenous students by providing individualized instruction in Ojibwe (Anishinaabemowin) within a culturally safe environment that promotes Indigenous identity, academic success, and well‑being.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in fostering equity and inclusiveness in the development and implementation of programs and services.
• Provide culturally relevant and safe learning environments and instruction based on students’ learning styles, strengths and needs.
• Apply effective Indigenous Education teaching, learning and assessment strategies and practices.
• Perform initial and ongoing assessments to support and monitor Indigenous students’ success.
