Custody Officer – Waitemata (12‑month Fixed Term, Full‑time, On‑site, Auckland City)
About the role
As a NewZealand Police Custody Officer you will manage the health and safety of detainees while they are in custody and during transit. You will maintain the welfare of people detained in our Custody Suites and Court Houses across the Waitemata District, treating everyone with dignity and empathy.
Key responsibilities
- Uncover and collect information using active listening and communication skills.
- Maintain composure and resilience in adverse situations, de‑escalating risk and working with teammates.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure appropriate care and support for vulnerable detainees.
- Adapt to change, remain vigilant to detainee needs, and uphold high standards of professionalism.
- Demonstrate commitment to ongoing training.
