Requirements - Bachelor's degree - ASCP certification - Prior lab experience and knowledge

Responsibilities - Examines prepared slides with the microscope to detect evidence of abnormalities. - Using diagnostic codes, report negative cases and refers abnormal cases to the pathologists for review. - Keeps records of work performed on daily basis. - Responsible for maintaining the microscope in working condition. - May read Non-GYN specimens and report findings to the pathologists for final diagnosis. - Participates in all continuing education programs.
