its Marine Division. A Deckhand is a critical member to the operation of a towboat and the barges in its tow. Marathon operates towboats on the Western and Inland Waterways river systems. Deckhands are generally scheduled on a 28 day on boat/28 day off boat rotation and work two six-hour shifts each day with six-hour rest periods in between shifts. Meals and lodging are provided while living on the boat.
