Job Description

The Disability Adjudicator (DA) is a member of the Group Disability team responsible for assessing and managing claims to resolution. The role includes determining eligibility for short‑term disability (STD) benefits, managing claims during the acute period, ensuring smooth transition to Disability Case Managers, developing action plans to support recovery, and communicating with plan members, sponsors, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assess new STD claims for eligibility (coverage) and benefit entitlement by reviewing contractual, medical, and occupational information.
• Manage STD claims during the acute period of absence until transition to Disability Case Managers.
• Ensure a smooth transition of claims to Disability Case Managers as required.
• Develop and maintain appropriate action plans directed toward ethically influencing early and timely recovery.
