The University of Eastern Finland is inviting applications for a Doctoral Researcher (PhD student) position in the field of Sustainable Aqueous Processing of Ni-rich Cathodes for Lithium-ion Batteries at the Department of Technical Physics on the Kuopio campus. The position will be a fixed-term role for three years commencing 1 September 2026 (or as agreed).

Role and salary

We are seeking a motivated Doctoral Researcher (PhD student) to join a research project that will develop advanced aqueous-based binders and integrate them into aqueous processing routes for Ni-rich cathode materials used in lithium-ion batteries. The overall aim is to enable high-performance cathodes while improving sustainability of manufacturing and end-of-life processing.
