RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
β’ Ensures consistent and accurate coding and charging of emergency department (ED) and outpatient accounts through a thorough review of conditions and procedures as documented by qualified health providers in the medical record.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
β’ Seeing, hearing, speaking, finger dexterity.
β’ Frequent: sitting.
β’ Infrequent: walking, stooping/bending, reaching at and below shoulder level.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
β’ Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
β’ Current certification in one (1) of the following:
o Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
o Certified Coding Associate (CCA) by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
o Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) by AHIMA
