The Lapland Rescue Department’s operational area consists of the northernmost, largest, and most sparsely populated region of Finland. Covering from the sea to the fells and from cities to wilderness, Lapland is nearly one-third of Finland, most of which is north of the Arctic Circle.

Fire Chief Position

We are recruiting a Fire Chief for the eastern rescue area, Sodankylä fire station group. The Fire Chief is a non‑commissioned officer role and acts as the supervisor and on‑duty fire group leader during their shift within their fire station group area. The Sodankylä fire station group includes the municipalities of Sodankylä and Savukoski and includes a rescue helicopter ASLAK. The current and desired staffing for shifts will move from 2–3 personnel to 1+3 personnel.
