General Nurse – Emergency Department

The General Nurse will provide quality nursing care to patients in accordance with the nursing process, standards of practice, policies and procedures. Responsibilities include supporting patient admission, discharge, transfer and record keeping processes and maintaining patient files.

• Provide general nursing care to patients within the Emergency Department according to hospital policy, procedure and relevant legislation.
• Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and timeously.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and patient areas at all times.
• Assist with admissions, discharges and transfers of patients in a timely manner.
• Assist with triage and registration of patients in the ED.
• Adhere to the principles of infection control and handle all clinical waste according to hospital policy.
