**Essential functions and responsibilities**
+ Teach swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities.
+ Assisting more experienced swimmers to enhance their swimming abilities.
+ Assessing the progress of students and adjusting teaching programs accordingly.
+ Monitoring students to prevent accidents and injuries.
+ Ensuring that the swimming pool is clean and tidy.
+ It is expected that a swim instructor will also provide coverage as a pool attendant or lifeguard.
**Job requirements**
+ Current Lifeguard Certification Preferred
+ Current Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR/AED Certification Required
+ Red Cross Aquatics Safety Training or Lifeguard Certification required within 30 days of hire
+ Sound knowledge of proper swimming techniques and water safety rules.
