The graduate student would be supporting Dr. Joyce Rain Anderson and Dr. Lisa Litterio, Writing Program Administrators (WPAs). The coordinators oversee the university’s robust first year writing program, which consists of Enhanced 101 courses and ENGL 101 (Writing Rhetorically) and ENGL 102 (Writing Rhetorically with Sources).
The graduate student would be responsible for developing a repository of online and web-based materials that focus on pedagogical practices for supporting faculty in teaching first year writing. The graduate student would also research and examine best practices relating to large language models (LLMs) and writing; this is particularly pertinent given campus-wide discussions regarding AI. There would also be some professional development opportunities, such as helping to secure external speakers well versed in AI and writing practices.
