Job Summary: Under general direction, performs routine and advanced professional and technical work for the *** Histology Laboratory. Essential Responsibilities: -Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position. -Receives tissue specimens from clinical services and autopsy suite, determines if specimens are labeled as to type of specimens and assigns surgical pathology or autopsy accession number to specimens. -Places specimens in proper fixation material. -Assists the pathologist in gross dissection of tissue and submission of tissue for histology examination and checks for proper accession number. -Process sections taken for microscopic examination through multiple phases required for preservation and fixation. -Embeds and sections tissue and mounts on slides for examination. -Performs all routine and special stain...
