Job Summary

The Pharmacy Intern I, under the supervision of a pharmacist, learns and practices the basic operational and clinical skills required to be a licensed pharmacist. Based on area of assignment, roles and responsibilities may vary within the scope of pharmacy practice. The pharmacy intern performs pharmacy-related functions to ensure the safe and effective use of medications at Denver Health.

Essential Functions:

Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Compounds medications for outpatient sales and/or delivery to patient care areas. Handles and triages telephone/window inquiries. Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care. Coordinates insurance billing including third party prescriptions if/when in the retail setting. Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information.
