Position Overview
A Data Cabling Technician installs, maintains, and repairs the physical network infrastructure that connects computers, phones, and security systems. They run, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cables in homes and businesses, ensuring reliable high-speed connectivity while adhering to industry building codes.
Core Responsibilities
+ Cabling & Infrastructure: Pull, route, and secure structured cabling (e.g., CAT5e, CAT6, fiber optics) through walls, ceilings, and cable trays.
+ Termination & Setup: Terminate cables at patch panels, jacks, and distribution frames. Build out IT closets and mount network hardware like switches and wireless access points
+ Testing & Troubleshooting: Use advanced testing equipment (like Fluke testers or OTDRs) to verify signal performance, test for cable faults, and resolve connectivity issues.
