Legal Counsel

Responsible for providing high‑quality legal advice across Council, with a strong commercial focus. The role supports major projects and strengthens contract management and risk practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate agreements, including leases, short‑form contracts and complex commercial arrangements.
• Provide legal support across property, infrastructure, privacy and broader local government matters.
• Translate legal complexity into clear, practical advice and enhance capability through shared learning, improved templates and fit‑for‑purpose legal practices.
• Build trusted relationships with stakeholders and provide high‑level legal advice.

Qualifications

• At least five years of post‑qualification experience in commercial law, contracts and statutory frameworks.
• Experience in local government or other in‑house legal roles highly valued.
