This position is filled by a licensed practical nurse who, as a result of educational and clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing, possesses the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide nursing care; ensures quality focused and cost-effective care delivery outcomes; functions within a collaborative practice to enhance quality of care; and participates in continuous quality improvement activities. Adaptability is essential for the hospice LPN, as work schedule and daily work load change frequently to meet patient needs.

Responsible and accountable for direct patient care within scope of practice for assigned patients in hospice under the direction of a registered nurse within the nursing team. Must be competent in a wide variety of nursing skills.
