Medical Technologist

The Medical Technologist performs various clinical laboratory tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases by following procedures and operating equipment as directed. Serves as leader and provides direction and supervision for laboratory staff, new employees and students as assigned. Demonstrates knowledgebase of hospital and laboratory policies. Responsibilities include performing order entry, phlebotomies, and collecting other specimens such as urine drug screens when necessary. Performs laboratory testing in all areas of the laboratory to include Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology, Coagulation, Immunohematology, Microbiology, and Chemistry. Performs routine maintenance tasks as designated for laboratory analyzers in all areas of the clinical laboratory.
