**Job Description:**

The role of New Patient Nurse Navigator is designed to serve as the first point of contact for new oncology referrals, ensuring patients move quickly and appropriately from referral to provider appointment. Rather than scheduling directly with an oncologist, the navigator functions as an intake and coordination step.
**Essential Functions**

+ **Assess:** Performs appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills as appropriate). Seeks and evaluates information acquired from other members of interdisciplinary team: patient, family, physician, non-nursing disciplines, support staff, others.
