Job Overview
The successful incumbent will work under the direction of physicians and in collaboration with other members of the health care team to provide care to clients with orthopaedic problems through the application, adjustment and removal of a variety of casts, splints and traction fittings.
Responsibilities
- Perform casting services primarily in the Fracture Clinic setting.
- Remove dressings, sutures, staples and pins related to external fixation.
- Apply casts, including specialized plaster or synthetic material casts and fracture braces.
- Measure and fit patients for orthopaedic devices and ambulatory aids.
- Instruct patients regarding the care and proper use of appliances.
- Assist in the application, maintenance and adjustment of traction, including patient education.
