Overview

Patient services technicians work in a variety of medical settings and are responsible for the daily care of patients. Their duties include attending to the basic needs of patients, keeping patient rooms clean and sterile, monitoring patients' vital signs, and collaborating with doctors and nurses to achieve superb patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assisting patients with everyday needs, such as eating, personal hygiene, and using the restroom.
• Monitoring patients' vital signs, such as their temperature, pulse, and electrocardiogram (EKG) signals.
• Documenting patients' conditions and updating the medical team on any major changes.
• Escorting patients to physiotherapy, diagnostic imaging processes, or surgery wards.
• Taking fluid samples or other specimens.
• Working with the medical team of nurses and doctors to set up a daily care plan for patients.
