Position Overview
The basic function of the Pharmacy Technician II is to assist the pharmacist in performing his/her distributive and professional duties. Responsibilities include assisting in the dispensing of drugs, transport and delivery of drugs, repackaging of drugs, charging and crediting of medications, operation and restocking of automated dispensing devices, restocking of medications and non-drug supplies, answering the telephone and responding to staff requests at the inpatient window. All these functions are performed under the supervision, review and approval of a pharmacist.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):
+ High school or GED diploma is required.
+ Academic coursework or experience in the medical science field is preferred but not required.
+ At least one year of similar experience in another healthcare organization, retail pharmacy or a position which involved comparable or related duties in another service industry.
