In addition to Veteran care, the Psychiatrist may have responsibilities in other areas such as education and research. Responsibilities The Staff Psychiatrist is responsible for providing psychiatric care in an outpatient setting, identifying Veterans' mental and medical health needs and designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans to meet these needs.
