Postdoctoral Researcher – NewGenH2Steel
The University of Oulu is a multidisciplinary, international research university. The Materials and Mechanical Engineering Research Unit seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to work for 3 years on the ERC Starting Grant project NewGenH2Steel, focusing on fatigue crack growth in advanced high‑strength steels using advanced in situ characterization and synchrotron techniques.
Key Research Areas & Responsibilities
- In Situ Micromechanical & Nanomechanical Testing: execute cyclic loading and fatigue experiments on miniature specimens inside SEM and TEM.
- Synchrotron X‑ray Tomography & Diffraction: use high‑energy synchrotrons for 3 D and 4 D non‑destructive characterization of crack‑tip opening, closure and phase transformations in bulk environments.
- Defect Interaction & Non‑Propagating Cracks: analyze the atomic and microscale interactions between small cracks and microstructural ...
