Participates in the diagnosis and therapy of psychiatric illness. Serves as a professional assistant to Psychiatrists who provide psychiatric care to inpatients and outpatients with mental or psychological illnesses, and engages in preventive care as a part of an integrated program of curative and preventive medicine.
Responsibilities
- Conducts psychiatric interviews and collects data for diagnostic purposes.
- Provides various psychotherapies including individual, group and family therapies.
- Offers counseling for couples with marital conflicts.
- Uses behavioral methods for the treatment of children and adults and plans the frequency, intensity and duration of therapy.
- Performs psychometric and mental measuring testing for diagnosis and evaluation of therapy.
