A care-giver who assumes responsibility/accountability for oncology patients for a designated time frame. Educates patients to the action, benefits, and side effects of radiation therapy. Effectively collaborates with radiation and medical oncology physicians, nursing staff and the interdisciplinary therapy team to ensure quality patient care and timely patient flow through the department. Knowledgeable of radiation oncology specific documents needed for a physician prior to patient appointment. Understands established and new therapy treatments provided at Hulston Cancer Center. Provides care for these patients through therapeutic outpatient patient care/problem solving/or nursing process and in cooperation with other health care team members.
