Position Overview

Summary The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, Smithsonian Affiliations (SITES), Under Secretary for Education, Smithsonian Institution (SI). Responsibilities The Registrar is responsible for the safe handling and care of traveling exhibitions, which includes arranging shipping, framing, mounting, conservation, crating, installation, and condition reporting. In this position, you will: Track and handle objects, artworks, and pieces in exhibitions that are borrowed from the other SI museums and external lenders. Oversee binding contracts that include any necessary museum policies to guarantee legal compliance. Archive exhibition files, hard copy and electronic files.
