Position Overview
Contribute to rehabilitation efforts as a Relief Cook within the Nova Scotia Department of Justice, based in Dartmouth. Prepare nutritional meals while supervising kitchen programs for persons in custody and staff.
As a Relief Cook, you will work under the Kitchen Manager, preparing and delivering meals while adhering to budget constraints. You'll ensure kitchen security, guide inmate helpers, and perform essential inspections. Your role supports the correctional facility's mission of safe reintegration for individuals in custody.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare approved meals for persons in custody and staff
• Supervise and instruct kitchen helpers effectively
• Maintain security and inspect kitchen equipment regularly
• Conduct quality checks on food and kitchen cleanliness
• Record daily menus and meal counts for compliance
Requirements:
• Journeyman Certificate (Red Seal) and 4+ years of cooking experience
