Detailed Overview

In accordance with pulmonary lab accreditation requirements and in conjunction with the interprofessional health care team, provides Respiratory Therapy services to outpatients referred to the respiratory clinics and performs inpatient and outpatient pulmonary diagnostic procedures. Responsibilities Performs pulmonary function procedures such as spirometry, lung volume determination, diffusion capacity, inhalation challenges, arterial blood punctures, oximetry with exercise, overnight oximetry, cardiopulmonary stress tests, FeNo, sputum inductions and home oxygen assessments. Completes and maintains testing documents and records. Provides respiratory therapy services to the outpatient respiratory clinics by teaching patients and families, in individual and group settings, about pulmonary function, medication and monitoring techniques, exercise routines, and coping skills that will help patients living with chronic respiratory disease.
