Functioning within the Health System’s mission, vision, values, policies and procedures, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients on his/her assigned shift. The RN is responsible for assessment of data collection and in providing a clinical basis for the development of an individualized plan of care across the peri-anesthesia continuum. The plan of care is based on initial and ongoing assessment and guides the nurse to intervene to meet the patient’s goals. The RN participates in the formulation of a multidisciplinary treatment plan and implementation of collaborative therapeutic interventions. S/he evaluates the patient’s health status and determines the effectiveness of the interventions.
