Role Summary The Linux Engineer EOS is responsible for assessing, planning, and executing upgrades or migrations of Linux systems reaching End of Support. The role ensures minimal downtime, security compliance, and alignment with organizational infrastructure standards.
Key Responsibilities - Assess Linux servers (RHEL, Oracle Linux, etc.) reaching EOS and prepare change request.
- Plans and Perform OS upgrades, to supported versions or alternative platforms (e.g., RHEL 8/9, OL 8/9).
- Coordinate with application, database, and middleware teams to validate compatibility before and after migration.
- Implement automation using Shell scripting for bulk upgrade.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all EOS activities and change requests.
- Conduct post-upgrade validation, performance checks, and rollback planning.
- Work with vendors in case any issue during the upgrade for the fix.
