Split Barge Captain
Responsibilities
Safely operate the split barge in various weather and sea conditions.
Ensure vessel compliance with maritime safety regulations.
Monitor and maintain proper functioning of propulsion, steering, and all systems.
Decide on routes, speeds and operations based on weather forecasts & safety needs.
Supervise cargo loading, transporting, and unloading, primarily dredged material.
Ensure proper cargo distribution for vessel stability and safety.
Lead and manage the crew, ensuring safety protocols and daily tasks are followed.
Conduct crew training, performance evaluations, and regular safety drills.
Oversee vessel maintenance, scheduling repairs and inspections.
Maintain accurate logs, records, and prepare operational reports for the project manager.
