New River Valley Community Services is seeking a STAR Mentor for Support & Treatment for Adolescent Recovery! The STAR Mentor is a community-based position that provides behavioral management support, social skills development, supervision, crisis support, transportation and family support in individual and group settings in the NRV. The mentor position is an evidence based position that is grounded in the adolescent community reinforcement approach (ACRA). The role assists with addressing substance use in the identified individual using a person-centered and systematic approach. This approach will also address concerns related to parenting for both biological and/or foster parents, caregivers, as well as natural and paid supports system wide. The STAR Mentor serves individuals between the ages of 12 to 21 who have received a referral for treatment of Substance Use by the juvenile justice, behavioral health, school or child welfare systems.
