The Department

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Services provides veterinary and farrier care for all horses in the Hong Kong SAR. While the health and welfare of horses is our focus, we acknowledge the importance of our role in protecting owners’ valuable investments and in optimizing the quality of racing at the HKJC by minimizing the incidence and effects of ill health or injury on the racing population.

Our key objective is to achieve excellence in clinical practice through prompt, professional and efficient service. In addition, we aim to enhance the management of racehorse injuries and their treatment through constant improvement in clinical standards and contribution to veterinary knowledge.

Our team provides services for over 1,200 Thoroughbred horses at the Club's Sha Tin Racecourse and a further six hundred retired Thoroughbreds, ponies and other horses in nine riding establishments throughout Hong Kong and the New Territori...
